Stop guessing the colour. Go and stand in it.

XR Explorer is a virtual reality walkthrough for Meta Quest 3. Walk into a house at full size, point at any wall, and repaint it while you are standing in the room.

What it does

One surface at a time

Point a controller at a wall and pull the trigger. That wall changes, and nothing else does. The ceiling stays the ceiling, the trim stays the trim, and the wall behind you is untouched until you turn around and paint it too.

Change your mind and the last change comes straight back off, or send a single surface back to how it started.

The palette rides on your hand

Sixteen architectural colours sit on your left hand where you can reach them without opening a menu. Want something that is not there? Bring up the colour wheel and mix it, with the hex value reading out live as you move.

Houses that behave like houses

Walls have real thickness, so a doorway has a reveal you walk through rather than a line you step over. Windows are double-hung and genuinely transparent, and the daylight coming through them lands on the floor with the pattern of the muntins still in it.

  • Two floors and a staircase you walk up
  • Pitched roofs, eaves, sills and casing
  • Attached two-car garages and driveways

A whole street, not just a room

Walk out of the front door and keep going. The community is ten houses in three designs along a street, with a map board at the entrance so you can see where you are and where everything sits.

Every one of them is paintable, inside and out, down to the garage door.

Sixteen to start with. Then anything.

These are the colours that load with the app — ordinary trade vocabulary rather than one manufacturer's fan deck. Try them here, then go and see them at the size of an actual wall, which is the only place a colour tells the truth.
